A SURVEY ON THE SMOKING BEHAVIOR OF THE COLLEGE WOMEN IN SEOUL

Abstract

|
This study was conducted to identify the real status of the prevalence and the characteristics of smoking people among the college women in Seoul.
99.6% (1015) of ´women students response to the questionnaire among 1019 randomly sampled women students of 4 women´s and 8 co-educational colleges and universities from Aug. 23, 1988 to Aug. 31, 1988. The current smokers were 15.8%, ex-smoker was 10.3% and non-smoker was 73.9%. Because of the hazardous effect on health of cigarette smoking, most of the smokers (81.7%) wanted to stop smoking in some-days. The source of information about anti-smoking, were mainly mass media (60.3%) and school teaching (17. 7%).
