A SURVEY ON THE SMOKING BEHAVIOR OF THE COLLEGE WOMEN IN SEOUL


Abstract
This study was conducted to identify the real status of the prevalence and the characteristics of smoking people among the college women in Seoul.
99.6% (1015) of ¢¥women students response to the questionnaire among 1019 randomly sampled women students of 4 women¢¥s and 8 co-educational colleges and universities from Aug. 23, 1988 to Aug. 31, 1988. The current smokers were 15.8%, ex-smoker was 10.3% and non-smoker was 73.9%. Because of the hazardous effect on health of cigarette smoking, most of the smokers (81.7%) wanted to stop smoking in some-days. The source of information about anti-smoking, were mainly mass media (60.3%) and school teaching (17. 7%).
